The Matagarup Bridge
The Matagarup Bridge is a remarkably beautiful bridge across the Swan River, providing pedestrian access between Burswood and East Perth.
The construction of this strikingly beautiful bridge, featuring towering majestic arches pushed the boundaries of conventional bridge construction and Tutt Bryant Group (TBG) is proud to have played a major role by supplying all the cranes and engineering expertise for this project.
This high-profile project presents several challenges which TBG was well-able to meet. These include a short delivery schedule, limited on-site space for the assembling and erecting the bridge arches and decks as well as the complexity of the assembly process that required multiple dual crane lifts. The critical lifts associated with the loading-out of the bridge deck for the middle span also presented challenges as each deck had to be lifted over the pier and manoeuvred into position with only millimetres clearance space from the arch.
Despite the challenges, the project was successfully completed on time, within six months from project ramp-up, including the installation of all the deck units within 14 days.
In all, TBG supplied a total of 13 cranes over the course of the project with lifting capacities ranging from 70 tonnes to 700 tonnes as well as related engineering expertise and meticulous planning and execution of all critical lifts.
